We've already seen what the $400 Radeon HD 2900 XT can do. Now we can finally find out how the more-affordable members of ATI's 2000 family measure up. Across the web, opinions on the 2900 XT were mixed. On some benchmarks, the card performs amazingly well, even up to the level of the GeForce 8800 GTX card costing $150 more. On others, the performance wasn't quite so hot. In the end, we found it a pretty good card with lots of promise, but one in dire need of some major driver optimization. Plus, we weren't exactly thrilled about the 2900's power consumption.
