I have been reading with great interest the opposing analyses of the Apple iPhone (
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2082361,00.asp) by PC Magazine editor-in-chief Jim Louderback (
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2141918,00.asp) and reviews editor Lance Ulanoff (
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2141922,00.asp). Jim believes the iPhone will fly and then flop, while Lance believes it will flop and then fly.
I have had a chance to play with the iPhone on a couple of occasions. Though Jim and Lance both make strong points in their columns, I would suggest that my colleagues are both half right. I believe the iPhone will fly off the shelves and continue to gain consumer interest and demand. There are three key reasons why I think it will be a major hit and that Steve Jobs's prediction of selling 10 million units in the iPhone's first 18 months on the market is extremely conservative.
