Lite-On does Blu-ray

OPTICAL DISK FIRM Lite-On plans to launch a Blu-ray disc drive in the UK this August.
The firm said production kicks off this summer, with its first drive, the LH-2B1S, set to arrive in the UK in August 2006. The drive will be backwards compatible with DVD+/_R(W) media and CD-R(W) media.
Lite-On reckons it can stuff 50GB of data on a double-layer disc or 25GB on a single layer Blu-ray disc. It says the funky blue-violet laser system is top for rewriting and playing back high definition video, on a disc that stores more data than the Home Office.
