China shuts down pron sites
Saving society from unhealthy content

THE CHINESE> government has saved the glorious people's republic from a tremendous 'negative influence' on its society, by shutting down six porn sites.

According to the Beijing News, the six websites, including the racy titled 'www.ysdm.com' and 'www.xf13.net', contained 'unhealthy content'.

Two other sites were given a deadline to clean up contents on their websites after an investigation. Of course it is not clear what a Chinese mandarin considers porn. We understand that it is remarkably close to the view espoused by Victorian England, where pictures of women's ankles were believed to make you go blind or lead to madness.

In April, Beijing managed to get its local site owners to promise to run only 'civilised' websites. More here.
