Please Note that this problem is for Advance users inly :P

I have a computer (duh) thats running win 98 SE on it. and a laptop running windows 98 on it. now i'm trying to do a cable connect with the 2. ie: from one printer port on LPT1 to the laptops printer port on LPT1. The problem is this. I start the host on the laptop. start the guest on the desktop. It says its verifying users, and it then verifies. then it sits for a while. pops up a window, asks for the computer name, and when i type in the computer name, it says it can't find it. I shared a folder on the hard drive of the host pc, and still no go. help me.

thanx

Me neither...seems like the hard way to do it (if possible)

Why not just use ICS???? or a router??

I've tried this already but on both Windows 98SE OS, and yes there some kind of synchronization of both pc, but when connected hell! its very very slow... transfering big data. good for copying small files only.

Yea, zonko...but having the "speed" and novelty of using the printer ports is "priceless".

we used to do that 'back in the day'
to play games like diablo. hehe .

Its called Direct Cable Connect.
U could go through LPT or Serial ports.

I dont remember how to fix ur problem though..sorry.
I'm sure we encountered it...just cant remember how to get past it.

But ones a laptop...so it'd be more, because he'd have to get a PCMCIA nic.
