How you can kill interconnect bottlenecks with paint and a hairdryer
Can you see what it is yet?

CANADIAN BOFFINS have come up with a cure for 'interconnect bottleneck' using a dab of paint and a hairdryer.

The paint in question is part of a special laser process that uses colloidal quantum dots that are suspended in a solvent like the particles in paint.

Professor Ted Sargent, of the Edward Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering say that the liquid can be slapped onto another material.

The paint carries the invisible colours of light needed to carry information through fibre-optics. The infrared light could, in the future, be used to connect microprocessors on a silicon computer chip.

The study, which was published in the journal Optics Express shows the laser is made by dipping a miniature glass tube in the paint and then drying it with a hairdryer. Once the right nanoparticles are made, the procedure takes about five minutes. More here.
