Via eats Intel share in integrated graphics market
Nvidia eats ATI's discrete share
JON PEDDIE RESEARCH has released what it estimates are graphics shipments and supplier share for 2005 and for the last calendar quarter.
ATI manufacturing problems and good products allowed Nvidia to take 52 per cent of the discrete desktop market, while Via too 24 per cent of the integrated market, gaining 50 per cent in the quarter.
Intel's share was 61 per cent but is now 50 per cent.
In overall desktop terms, Intel fell five points to 32 per cent, while ATI had 24 per cent and Nvidia 23 per cent. Intel had all sorts of problems producing enough chipsets during the last several months.
