We are slowly, but certanly entering a territory of flashing everything that is related to a piece of silicon. After first announcements that console games in near future will require patching (there goes single advantage consoles had over PC's), Logitech decided to do something new - flash a mouse.
Since we heard reports from several readers that their laser mices aren't functioning properly (mostly G7's) on many surfaces, it was clear that laser technology encountered some issues we thought it would be long gone after all the trouble with LED mices. Logitech stepped first into the open and admitted problems with some mices, and competition was quick to reccomend using Logitech laser rats only in conjuction with a professional-grade mousepad. However, american-swiss company took the flak and issued a fix for G5, it's wired gaming mouse - and there is no doubt same is on the way for its wireless sibling, G7.
If you own a G5 mice, we would prompt you to upgrade the firmware. Sadly, the patching app will not work in 64-bit Windows, but hey - that's nothing new for hardware vendors, right?
