Bloke wants 100% federal tax on internet porn
It's for your own good, even doctors say that

INTERWEB portal Netscape.com surprised me this morning by linking to a story titled "What's the effect of Porn?".

Apparently, some people still don't know, we guess. The story is based on a poll done last month by research firm Harris.

What's even more interesting are the words of Dan Burrell, a bloke who's quoted in the article and who claims internet porn is "an emerging problem", and compares it to other addictions like alcohol or drugs.

"It's available, anonymous, and affordable. This is because of the internet", he fires straight into the readers' eyes without a sign of abashment. And he proposes an answer: Federal Taxes on online porn. That would surely put George W.'s savaged budget in order, we think.

According to the news story, 47 per cent of women think pornography "harms relationships between men and women", while a surprising 33 per cent of men agrees with such claim. Harris found in its online poll that 55 per cent of women want the government to regulate it so that children cannot access adult content. But perhaps the most surprising bits of information comes once again from Mr. Burrell, who says according to the news piece that "there is some recent medical evidence that it is addictive for some of the same reasons that cause people to get addicted to alcohol or drugs". Of course alcohol is a drug. He doesn't mention cigarettes. The news report ends, as expected, with a climax: the rate of the proposed tax on porn: 100%. The original article is over here and we leave the conclusions to you, the always smart reader. While you make up your mind on this pressing issue, we will continue browsing the Net for the latest... news.
