WD QUIETLY released its Caviar SE16 S-ATA hard drives which fly around at 7200 revenues per minute and have 16MB of cache.
WD says the drives are ideal for fully loaded PCs with fast processors. It doesn't mention dual cores.
It also claims that they're very quiet and "almost imperceptible to the human ear", while they also operate at a low temperature.
Average latency is 4.20ms, read seek time 8.9ms, write seek time 10.9ms, while transfer rates buffer to host is 150MB/s, buffer to disk 748Mbits/s, and buffer to disk 64MB/s.
