AMD goes green despite endangering salamanders' health
IN AN ATTEMPT to boost its green credentials, chip company MD said it is sponsoring a team in the 2005 Solar Decathlon which starts in Washington DC next week.
AMD is currently under attack for proposing to build on an area of natural beauty called Barton Springs, and endangering all sorts of creatures including rare salamanders.
It has countered the arguments of a ginger group against a new building by saying shorter vehicle journies will result in fewer carbon emissions fouling the planet. AMD is sponsoring the University of Texas at Austin Solar Decathlon team in a competition sponsored by the US Dept of Energy in which 18 college and uni teams will design and build houses that "demonstrate the advantage of a solar lifestyle".
