Microsoft Walks Away From Music Talks
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft has terminated talks between itself and 4 major record labels. The record labels including Sony Music and EMI were reportedly asking for between $6-8 a month per user from Microsoft in royalties. Microsoft has been trying to launch a subscription-based music service similar to Yahoo! Unlimited for some time now.

Subscription based music services allow customers to download as much music as they can handle. The subscription must be renewed at the end of the contract period in order for downloaded music to remain playable.
