Shortcut Problems
Finally got around to loading Vista today. Took 120 min from booting dvd to booting into vista. No real major problems except an unknow device and pci device I couldn't figure out what they were.
Any way, the real problem. When I load programming as soon as it get to the point of adding shortcuts the machine reboots.
I got so frustrated I'm back on 2K3 now.
Would like to figure out why reboots before trying again.
Some Programs that had problems with
V2i
Livestate
MSN Messenger [did get to load by unchecking add shortcuts]
Sygate
The list goes on.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

From ieXbeta Wiki: To GREATLY increase the likelihood of compatibility with installer software, be sure your user account is a member of the new "Trusted Installers" group!!!

HotRod, try uninstall those apps, add yourself to Trusted Installers group, reboot teh PC just in case, and try installing the apps again.

Quote:
1) if you're using the local Adminsitrator account, make sure you've given it a password.
2) Add the local/network account into the Trusted Installers group.
3) log out, then back in using the account from above.
Hope that works.

Seems as though that was the problem. Can't believe Administrator is not a Trusted Installer by default.

Thanks

Makes you wonder what the admin account is for don't it? That is almost silly, although I am sure there is a good explaination as to why.

Thanks
