Why Does System Restore Fail So Often?
I've seen others have this same prob. You do a system restore, reboot, and then it says "Ha Ha ha! Your system CAN'T be restored! Choose a different time and space, Foo!".

Wuz up wid dat?

It's the m$ way of teaching us to make ordinary decent backups instead. Or more seriously - I don't know. (All I really know is that an image of the system partition is the way to go.)

Hmmm.... question- do you leave your pc on most of the time?

Last week I had to restore as a last shot way to beat some nasty trojans and it flew without a hitch (but I leave my system on most of the time so had a recent restore point to use).

Thank gawd, I didn't feel like regen'in the whole damn laptop

Of course, it makes a BIG difference the size you allow windows to keep the restore files/history. The farther back you want a retore date the larger the files/history needed. Not enough files/history available and restore will fail.

I agree with ya Tubey; I seem to have that problem once my system start having weird stuff happen; Explorer errors, lockups, and things like that..Especially if I have been installing and un-installing lots of programs, it will also not allow System Restore to do its thing..

One thing to always try is to boot to Safe Mode, and try the Restore from there..that sometimes works for me...
