Man, I am sorry to hear about your loss Alpine. As you said, your father is in a better place feeling no pain what-so-ever. Just think - he is watching over you now and will be in your heart forever. Some day you will meet up with him on the other side.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this time.

Alpine, I'm sorry to hear this. I know all too well what your going through. My mom just died 12 days ago, and to say the least, it's not easy at all.

I have a friend who has been fighting the big C for over 4 years now, around 10 month's ago he was given the all clear- two months later they gave him 6 month's to live. If you can do the math he's lived longer than expected but every day is a fight for him now. Watching him suffer has been one of the hardest things i have had to go through but when he finally decides to stop fighting there will be a lot of sadness but also a sense of relief, the suffering will be over and he can finally get the rest he deserves. You have my most sincere condolences, take solace from the fact that he has gone to a world with no pain where he can be reunited with his loved ones who had passed on before. My godfather died earlier this year, it was 6 month's from diagnosis to death- it's never easy but it does get easier.
Take care over the holliday season and remember to laugh, it's one of the best medicines known to mankind
