Uninstalling Symantec Antivirus Asks For Password

Hi Guys,

I have tried various things during past couple of weeks to no avail.

This is Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.00.338



Has anybody encountered a similar problem before? I have tried all the Windows User Account passwords in all the computers, but still I cannot figure out which password it is asking for.

Is there anyway to bypass this and proceed uninstalling Symantec Antivirus?

I remember (nearly two years ago) I had some problems when I tried to remove all Norton/Symantec stuff from my computers that I had problems. Not like this one though.
I guess you have tried with reinstall followed by reboot and then tried to uninstall again?
You have tried with the various uninstall utils that Symantec have for download at their support pages?

It's close to impossible to totally get rid of the Symantec software. In fact that hard that Symantec's own uninstall feature seldom work. Also their uninstall utils mentioned aren't enough (they work allright but still leave traces), you still have to do some extensive search and destroy tasks including registry cleaning.

unicorn, your luck really worked.
I googled for "symantec uninstall password" and this time I was lucky.

I cannot believe this. The password is symantec. Once the password was put in, the installer continued just as usual.

How on earth can they restrict us uninstalling their products by putting a password that we are not aware of?

Sounds like a good reason not to buy symantec!!!

You know when I first got into PC's Norton was the one to buy.
But thats not the case Now!

Good idea to do that search.

"How on earth..." That's one question. I have several other questions about how they could let both Norton Utilities and Antivirus go from best to average to something prefered to stay away from.
