Hey,
Well I would assume that mod_gzip installed on the server? If not it should be and in that case GZIP in the forum should be disabled.
And I quote, just for those wondering.
However, leaving gzip enabled on your forums or other PHP scripts will cause mod_gzip to disable gzip compression for that page. The PHP version of gzip is slower, so it's advantageous to use the mod_gzip method for compression and efficiency.
Just a thought.
