it's been a loooong time since doing an XP install

i am going to install XP for a friend who's currently running ME, and he wants to keep his ME, so i'll set up a dual-boot

question i have is will the XP Install/Set-up provide an option of creating a new partition, or does the second partition need to be created before attempting the XP install?

i will be doing this in another country while on vacation, and need to know if i should bring a copy of PartitionMagic w/ me.

TIA

Take partition magic with you WinXP won't let you resize a partition- you can delete the existing partition (which will lose everything on it!) and create 2 smaller partitions or you can reformat the partition- again losing everything on it. At least with PM you can resize the existing partition and create a new one in the free space
