this could be one of two things....the version of windows XP you have or it could be your motherboard. I personally think it's windows XP because depending on the version you have XP is a bit sluggish and when you hit the start bar and open folders ...yes the cpu will jump a bit, my cpu will jump to 80 percent...now if it's @ 100 % all the time...you have a problem. If it sounds like XP problem I would reccomend you backup all your materials you need onto the disk you DO NOT install windows on. Then format and do a clean install of Windows XP...when you upgrade it's sluggish. It also could be your motherboard... my setup is a primary hd on the same ide cable as my cd rom and my other hd on the same ide as my burner...optimum setup and no problems..I dont know though, provide me with more information and ill try to help ya.
