VISTA BETA2 /InPro Comm IPN2220 W/less LAN Card
Hi

I just installed VISTA BETA2 on my Toshiba L10 Notebook and Windows did not install any driver for the integrated "InPro Comm IPN2220 W/less LAN Card". A search on WinUpdate came up with nothing.

I then installed the the Wireless driver from my Toshiba Utilities CD and although it seemed to install ok, when I tried to update the driver from Device Manager, Windows could not find it despite the fact that I pointed to the folder in program files, so I don't think the software install from the Cd went ok afterall.

Does anyone have a Toshiba L/top that uses this W/Less LAN Carddriver and can tell how to get it working?

OR

Does anyone know who makes the "InPro Comm IPN2220 W/less LAN Card" and if so, give me the web address/email where I can contact the manufatcturer for an updated driver for Vista BETA2?

Regards

Hi

Update!

I now know that the integrated wireless card is the "FOXCONN T60N871 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN CARD". I have tried a few searches for this card but still no driver for use under VISTA BETA2.

Can anyone help here please?

Regards

The card is featured on a list of approved WLAN units at http://www.uaelab.ae/Products/Type_Approved/wlan.htm

The supplier/vendor is given as Al Futtaim Technologies and there are fax and telephone numbers for that organisation in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

May help.

Hi BC

Yes I managed to get it working.

I read on another forum about WLAN driver problems in VISTA and the advice was to use the .INF file in the WinXP driver folder of my Toshiba CD for my particular my card.

So in Device Manager I clicked to update the driver and then pointed to that folder and used the XPSP2 compatibility mode and it installed just fine.

After reboot, VISTA found the card and installed the driver and the WLAN works just fine.

Just checked your WLAN thread and as I not yet familiar with where things are in Vista, exactly where are the driver and .inf folders in Vista BETA2?

Regards

In the same places as in Win XP :
\Windows\Inf
\Windows\System32\Drivers
would be the default folders

(I'l have to boot back into Vista to doublecheck)

I tried doing like you, (not searching the CD, but my WinXP partition), but it only found the .inf, and was complaining about not finding the driverfile, untill I manually copied them.
But I did NOT choose the compatibillity mode, I jumped into it

The search thing I allso did with a HW spesific driver file for this laptop, as it was unly showing up in
the device manager with a questionmark, as unknown.
It turned out to be a driverfile called "fuj02b1.sys".
