Yikes! Spyware!
Hello All,

Out of no where, I got a crazy load of spyware that hit my system. This is the first hit I've had in over 2 years! PestPatrol stood no chance. I guess it takes one file to generate a crap load of other crap coming onto the system! And the funny thing is that I have no clue where I got hit. I go to my usual sites where IE picks up the stupid install ActiveX Components Crap, and I never do. Who knows where I got them - All I know is that I have them and there is quite a few of them!
  • I went ahead and ran PestPatrol - removed over 200 pests.
  • Ran SpyBot - Removed quite a few things.
  • Ran Ad-Aware - Removed quite a few things.
I ran them 2 times each without being connected online. I just downloaded and installed SpywareBlaster since I heard nothing but great things about it. Why not - it prevents spyware from ever being installed on your system in the first place, and it is free.

I should be clean again, but I am going to post my HijackThis report to see if any of you notice anything that I should dump (I replaced "http:" with "hxxp:" so that the links at the bottom of the report wouldn't get truncated):

Do any of these items look suspicious? What about "R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing"?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Good question war59312! I have the slightest clue. I am going to grab CWShredder and give that a whirl.

Everything else looks alright though, right?

EDIT - Just an update: I ended up doing a Google Search on the following:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - hxxp://207.188.7.150/2837b1976976f86cc006/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

And from the results - they were safe to remove. So I removed them and so far no side effects. I scanned my system with each prog again tonight, and for the most part - I am clean. I had 2 TV Media files that showed up after I updated my definitions for Ad-Aware, but that was about it.
