Can't send email on Shaw? Follow these instructions.
Shaw has begun blocking outgoing email port 25 connections. To fix this, the port number on the outgoing mail server needs to be changed to 9590.
Below are simple instructions to help change this setting.
Mozilla Thunderbird
1. Go to Tools / Account Settings.
2. On the left scroll to and select Outgoing Server (SMTP)
3. Click Edit
4. Change the port number to 9590.
5. Click OK (twice)
Outlook Express 6
1. Go to Tools / Accounts
2. Choose the Mail tab
3. Highlight the account and click on Properties
4. Click on the Advanced tab
5. Under Server Port Numbers, in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type in 9590 in place of 25
6. Click OK and then Close
Outlook 2003
1. Go to Tools / Email Accounts
2. Click Next
3. Click Change
4. Click More Settings...
5. Click the Advanced tab
6. Under Server Port Numbers, in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type in 9590 in place of 25
7. Click OK, Next, then Finish
Apple Mail
1. Go to Application / Preferences
2. Click Accounts
3. Select your email account and Click Edit
4. Under Outgoing Mail Server click Options
5. For port, type 9590 in place of 25
6. Click OK
