Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Windows XP x64 hit RC2
At 6 PM PST, Microsoft made available to beta testers build 1433 of Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Windows XP x64 edition, tagged as RC2.

Release Candidate 2 sports a number of security enhancements since build 1421, which was released to testers last month.

Currently Microsoft's beta download servers are being hammered hard and downloads are crawling for the 600 odd megabytes for each of the different versions available for download and testing.

The images on offer are Windows Server 2003 SP1 RC2 Standard, Enterprise, Blade, and Datacenter editions (x64, IA64 and x86) as well as the standalone service pack (IA64 and x86) and last but not least Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

Microsoft has released the standalone service pack bits to the public (see download links below) but it's currently unclear whether the RC2 build of Windows XP x64 Edition will also be made available to participants of the customer preview program via download.
