Launched today by Apple, the new iPod Photo combines the audio capabilities of the original iPod with an LCD color screen which allows to view photos stored on the 40GB or 60GB built-in hard-drive. The LCD screen is 2 inches wide, has a 220*176 pixels resolution, and can display photos up to 65,536 colors (16-bit display). What's more interesting however, is the video-out connection on its dock, which can connect your iPod Photo to any TV. The iPod Photo automatically resizes photos for optimal viewing, based on your TV aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9).
iPod Photo ships in two flavors: 40GB and 60GB. The 40GB version is priced at $499, while the 60GB one is priced at $599.
The latest iTunes 4.7 is required to take advantage of the photo-viewing capabilities of iPod Photo.
