Lol. Every illegal stuff are dangerous. System protection-wise, I have heard you can get viruses infected via KaZaA. Personally I don't use Kazaa now.

Windows XP is DANGEROUS!

Now, about Kazaa, if you store banking information on your PC you should not use ANY P2P software. Do you bank on line? If you do, MS Messenger is just as dangerous as Kazaa.

Fines? Not realy. Some record companies are trying to get permission to sue people who HOST music files but so far nobody has been fined for downloading files. I use Kazaa Lite 2.02 all the time and have had NO problems other than some 'fake' files.

I use Kazza to listen to new music because Radio and MTV SUX!!!!!!!!!

I pay my bills and stuff, and I also have KaZaA. I haven't got any problems yet though. But now I feel it is dangerous.

@jtk: have a dual boot. j/k.

In Denmark someone got a fine, but they ended up not having to pay.

Now to Kazaa. Kazaa is spyware and should generally be avoided. Kazaa lite on the other hand is a bit better, since atleast its no spyware.
Viruses and fake files floarates on most common p2p networks. therefore, eMule/overnet/edonkey on the other hand, got dozens of sites getting good releases and sharing them on p2p. You can reach this files by using so called ed2k links, which will make emule/overnet/edonkey download the file you requested.
Sites of interest for this would be emule-project.net - emule client, best client for the edonkey network. sharereactor.com good site with lots of ed2k links that can be used with eMule. - note: mod/admins please dont delete/edit this, as sharereactor isnt hosting any illegal files.
