I want to design a homepage for my little site. I have frontpage 2003 but Im not a coder and dont have a clue as to writing html. Any easier programs other than deamweaver for a real beginner? I'm thinking of just getting someone to make one for me. It might be easier but I wont learn anything.

i would just say start using dreamweaver...might take a little while but actaully once you start using it it wont be hard at all. and if you really want to do anything then start looking at the html while your making it, you'll be suprised at how much you learn.

I prefer Dreamweaver although I use Frontpage too :P
In either program you can see what you are doing in WYSIWYG mode and swap between the 2 modes or even show both at once. This mode is like writing the page using word where all the html parts are hidden.

I think it is the easiest program to use

Just save the file as index.htm and upload it to the webserver
It also has a lot of inbuilt scripts which you can easily add and flash buttons
In code view it also highlights the code in different colours and can highlight invalid code and identify errors where closing tags are missing etc.

Dreamweaver seems to be the logical choice as my host says I will not have access to the ftp if I use frontpage. Ill have to do any uploads through the site management page which is fine as it has all the tools I need and more anyway.

@James55 It will be easy to get confused to start with but as had been said when you start using it and looking at the html, also you will learn as you go. Do small sectiona at a time till you get it figured out and save, then add more as you get comfortable. Just don't try to do too much at once or you will get more confused.

Keep up the work

Thanks
Dudelive

i say use dreamweaver.

if you want to learn html, then use notepad or a text editor only and see what you come up with. www.htmlgoodies is a good place to go for the basics, that is where my professor told our class to go and learn from.
