I'm new to this forum and have to admit that I did not read all of yet, so if I pose a question already asked earlier, please don't hit me ;-)

My problem is: I recorded some avi with a cheap web cam and WinTLV. I did not turn on any compression, so the video stopped automatically at 4 GB. Now I want to view or use the 4 GB already recorded, but all the programs I used tell me this is no AVI, or it is unsupported, or it is corrupted. But I did everything just the way as I did with earlier movies, only the size is larger this time.

I already tried Adobe Premiere, TMPGenc, DivFix, AviPreview, Windows Media Encoder, Windows Movie Maker, Fx Splitter, AviFixed, I'm running out of programs to try, but I will not accept that my file is lost forever.

Is there somebody who knows this problem (and maybe even a solution)?

thanks,

taoyuan

Hi taoyuan, and welcome.
Have you tried using an AVI repair utility?
Here are some free ones:

www.geocities.com/avimedic/

http://www.repair-video.com/

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools?tool=208#comments

Good luck, and let us know if that works.
