Why not use .net for a desktop?

I used RC1 for several months as my primary os. Its still on a partition actually

Half the fun of using a beta or a "server designed os" is to tweak it and make it do what you want it to do - isnt it?

I just installed .NET to run my simple little ftp server but it also serves as a print server and internet connection gateway. Do you think Win2000 server would be better and why?
Also, does Win2000 server have remote desktop connection. That is a must have for me.

Klaasman, 2k is full and not beta. Also, i think you should format and install linux/unix.

fares, .net's are server os'es. Without doing lots of stuff, many programs will refuse to install on this "server os".

Does FreeBSD support read and write to NTFS? If not then stick with win2k/xp

AFAIK you can download the remote desktop applications straight from the M$ site.

The only program i have had problems installing with .net is MS !Plus for winxp. I even manged to get around this in the end using TweakNT or NTSwitch
