Anybody else getting Windows - Delayed Write Failed errors after installation?

This is typical of the error:

"Windows - Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the data for the file d:\$Mft. The data has been lost. The error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."

I get this over and over. Sometimes it refers to $Mft, sometimes to other files.

I dual boot with Windows XP and XP runs fine. I have never had this kind of error from XP

I tried installing the Intel chipset utility but that didn't cure the problem.

I tried to turn off disk write caching but could not save the changes and so they didn't take effect.

Anybody know what's going on here and how to fix it?
