I know this isn't FTP help, but don't know where else to post.
I have been running a mail server from home machine for years now. Seems as though more and more ISP's are blocking private IP's (residential) and I am not able to send to most of them now. Also seems as though inbound port has been blocked. Send test mails and never recieved, also not been getting much email on these accounts. Is there any way around this? I know for outbound I can use ISP's mail server, but not really what I want to do. Or is it just time to Pay for own webhosting and go that route?

Thanks
HotRod

Well, the get around for FTP/Web is to just change the default port...so, you could try that for your incoming server. And for the outgoing, I would use the ISP's SMTP server.

There's a little shareware prog called 1st SMTP Relay Server that basically sets up ur email prog to use ur ISPs POP server but uses "localhost" as your SMTP server.

It sends the mail directly to the recipient's POP server...so when they look at the headers, it'll say it came directly from ur box (computer name)

If u wanna check it out, it's at: /www.softstack.com
