[b:0bc24c2ff5]Hi folks, when you use "username/password" the Password has to be kept "Secret" if you expect to have any Security. Also some folks like to "Hammer" on password control to see if they can break it. [/b:0bc24c2ff5]
I Totally agree with you crowdirt

Hi Folks, its worth a try for a week or so. I found using IP#'s to be "Simple" to do and very trouble free. Get a few folks working that way and watch how it works for a bit, I expect you will like it a lot. Once there are several serving Sites going then we can think more about the "Ring" thing.
Thought for the Day: There are lots of "Worms" in a "Can of Worms". But if you have enough "Crows"......

I'd like to add a thought that I didn't see brought up in this thread. All these FTPs running by us little guys is a problem to the software companies. Although once we band as one and become a sort of MOB, don't you think they will go for the ring? We are better just serving what we enjoy or what's hot for that month and leave it at that.
Just my thought

Well I expect KaZaA, BearShare, Limeware, Morpheus et. all will keep the legal beagles busy for some time at least. All we have to do is be inconspicuous and hard to find.

How about running a eDonkey server? This would give a large software collection environment to hold on to. Files would more easily be released.
Someone just needs to run a server. The rest can be taken by individual servers.
Just a thought,

Hi Folks, the problem with KaZaA, BearShare, Limeware, Morpheus, eDonkey et. all is that they are focused on lots of small unrelated files. Basically the same approach as 51soft takes. The question is, have you ever done a CD sized item with any of this stuff without a lot of fussing around to keep all the segments organized? Try a set of 3-4 CD's or even a DVD Disk and see how it goes.

Sound good, but I think Direct Connect is a good solution. If any can run a hub 24/7 ppl can enter and share everything that they want. (I want to share but I can't run a FTP server or a hub because I have just one machine to do everything (work, study, play, etc) and I need reset and update my system all day)
