I have been thinking of Bear Cat?s very wonderful response to Flanderz. I just came in after an hour working in my garden, moving plants, laying down peat moss, etc. BC's response is the good one. I think of my daughters and I am happy to know BearCat is there. On the other hand, Saddam's daughters are no longer children. So, maybe Flanderz has a point.

My eldest daughter, now 40, will give birth to my second grand child next month (a boy). My daughter was born in Germany, attended grammar school in Los Angeles, finished her high school years in Montreal, and did her university years in Paris. She now lives a simple life in a small village on the slopes of Mt. Etna in Sicily. She recently asked that I send "Tea With Terrorists" by Craig Winn and Ken Power. Sub titled: "who they are, why they kill". It's really interesting. I'm reading it before mailing it to her. Read it! A good war story, but a lot of factual Biblical and current history. I had to order it from Barnes and Noble since it is not on everyone's reading list.

On that score, I spent a couple months last year in Jordan, Syria and Iran and found it revealing. The greatest problem is education in the way that we, in the "west", think of education. In the Islam world "education" is often indoctrination. It's different that what we are used to.

Redkitty?s admonition to ?wake up? has value. It?s great to be compassionate and understanding. Quite another to just bend over and hold your ankles.

Even I as a patriot of this country know that underneath it all the oil was obviously on the top of the list but they couldnt just march on in. There is much more going on also in the big pic than wmd as far as us in the middle east also. Of course the cia but they were there long before the troops got there. They already have admitted over estimating saddam and the wmd. It would have been nice to have them find the "smoking gun" as far as world opinion goes though. Look at the number of mass graves that have been found though. Im still glad hes gone. I do however think hes still hiding in-country and Ill be glad when they capture or kill him.

Yep. Good ridents to bad rubbish. But, there are other big time world class tyrants as terrible or worse than Saddam. The difference is they don't control major oil fields.

There is nothing more wonderful than the adrenalin flow when we defend our country as a patriot, but it seems to me there are some things going on here that indicate the administration may be playing us like an orchestra leader ?plays? a string ensemble. <wry grin>

We are hearing a wake up call, alright, Redkitty. Now, what's the next step?
Welll... I do have some ideas, since you ask. Just let me freshen up the edge on the guillotine and find where I put those knitting needles....

I hope the answer is a quick and easy 'No' ...
Why ?
Did you choose your father ? <_< [/b][/quote]
Sorry this country when it comes to Asylum and Refugees is just sickening me at the moment. This country is far too soft. They come in here claim all our benefit for themselves. This country does NOTHING to help the homelss people or anything. They say they don't have the money, well use similar schemes for asylum seekers then.

Anyway that is another issue and we are getting off topic.

It would be bad for them to let the girls in. We already harbour Al-Kieda terrorists and thats bad enough. They should be sent somewhere else.

I"m waiting for Redkitty and her knitting neeles.

Meantime, Flanderz, I'm with you. I retired in France after a 20 year career there, but fled because of the trend I've noted there over the past 40 years. Not unlike your experience in the UK.

You really wanna get your adrenalin up, read the book I mentioned earlier: Tea with Terrorists by Craig Winn. He was interviewed on European TV a few months ago.

I find this discussion amusing in the fact that I dislike politics, yet here I am posting...

Sure, the public may have been lied to, but does this REALLY surprise anyone? I hope not...because our politicians are humans just like us...just better speakers who have the "charisma" to get elected. I mean really, there are so many "behind doors" activities that go on in the political arena that I find difficult to comprehend. President Reagan and President Bush Sr. were by no means "perfect"--and neither were ANY of the other Presidents before them (or after them). I shudder to think what went on behind those closed doors-and I really don't want to know.

I guess I'm rambling on...but let me say one thing and that is:

Ulimately, it's the VOTING people of the United States of America who determine what path the nation takes.

Remember King Richard when he went off on the Crusades? Now it's King George. Where do we pick up our swords?

Maybe they sold them back to France and assorted Soviet countries to make up for the lost oil revenue <_<
