found the link, not sure if it's 2k / xp compatible though, it's good software, my high school used it and it's damned near hack proof, believe me, i tried, hehe, a few times

damn, nevermind, i just tried it myself, it will install in compatibility mode but it won't work

what i really need is to be able to password protect a folder then be able to put it on a cd and keep it password protected. then however i give it to can just enter the password without having to have the program installed.

I'm using Folder Guard Pro 5.4. on XP. Personally I really like it. I have a drive with all music on it (mp3). I protected it made it read only, and hidden.
The wierd and cool thing is that Windows Media Player cannot access it, nothing can it looks blank even in device manager it says the full amount of space as free, except a playlist I made of it with winamp, even when protected winamp can still play the music on it using the playlist.

And if it's a NTFS partition, you can also set permissions on the folder/share.
