Before transferring to another slot remove first on the device manager.
so there will be no corrupted driver.
Is this what you mean?I hope its not

Moving a card to a different slot is a valid solution for irq problems.

One of many examples of this recommendation, this one from intel :

In addition, a complete system freeze is not a good indication of a corrupt modem driver (or any other device driver) , but rather an irq conflict.
