You need a W98 or WinMe startup disk for Dos to recognise your CD-rom..
or
get a CD-dive device driver for Dos and add them to your config.sys and autoexec.bat if you are running and tried to install W98 with W95 startup disk !

If not too late, 1 more suggestion. If you have a full or OEM version of windows, Go into setup at boot, and change your 1st boot drive to your cd rom, then reboot with the Windows cd in the drive. That has saved me a couplr times-Good luck-jimb
