BayIMG is Flickr without the censoring
THE SCOUNDRELS at The Pirate Bay have launched BayIMG, a new image hosting service that is touted as free and uncensored.
BayIMG accepts about 140 different formats of images, as well as Zip and RAR archives of images. The chaps suggest that they believe in freedom of speech, and that images will be uncensored and freely accessible.
However, they do reserve the right to remove illegal images, stating that "As long as your pictures are legal they will be hosted here". We suspect that this is legal in the sense of child porn, not illegal in the sense of copyright, given the group's notorious dislike of intellectual property laws.
Browsing the site, there appears to currently be a lot of boobs, a lot of gay porn and a lot of 'internet humour' pictures featuring cats and captions. Hardly revolutionary or the stuff of which free speech is made, but, you know, everyone has to start somewhere.
