network printer
We have a network printer thats works through a office PC. We are going to set it up so as a out and out network printer (No PC needed) And my question is, will it still need a crossover cable or will a straight-thru cable work?

Or because it's now going through a hub does it NEED a straight-thru cable?

Thanks

How is it connected to the PC today, with a direct ethernet cable ?

If it will be connected to a hub, or a switch, a stright-thru cable should be the one

btw: what printer is this, and whats the interfacecard/printserver beeing used in it ?

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.

My dad uses the office Canon IR printer/scaner often. I know that I had to install all the drivers for the scanning (JBig) and the software for general printing.

When I googled your printer I came across this driver sets:
http://www.canon.com.au/products/mul...0_drivers.aspx

As per connecting the printer to a hub or directly into the PC (crossover).
