want to create a web server (local)

I've taken a spare PC, installed Apache 2.2.4 on it, installed mySQL, even installed php 5 essentials.

Everytime I go to phpmyinfo.php All that appears is a blank screen. I have followed (http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/php4install.shtml) I have placed in the nessessary php 5 stuff where it says php4. I'm just confused, the server pops up just fine.

When I go to phpmyinfo.php comes up with nadda.

My objective is to do my best to link up php, mysql and apache together (installing simple forum machines to learn a bit more about web apps)

I've used sambar server and auto php/apache servers before, but I'm too proud.

Actually i just clicked on phpinfo from you xmapp interface and it loaded up fine- the problem must be a local one.
