Modders to hide in woods from sherriff
THE GREAT ARCHITECT of the Xbox 360, Microsoft, has decided that it will crack down on firmware hacks that enable the games console to play backups.
According to
xboxic.com, Vole has ummed and ahhed about whether it would outlaw the practice and many thought it would turn a blind eye to the process.
According to the inventor of the hack, it is a doddle for Microsoft to identify machines which have been modified and now it seems that they are excluding machines that have.
Already one punter who connected two 360s has been told by Vole support that the 'status codes' for his machine indicate that he modified the machine.
He said that he hadn't, but the fact that Volish customer support can see 'status codes' identifying the modders indicates that they know who they are and are shutting them down. Or so this site
reckons.
