Victor victorious
A CHAP called Victor managed to get the full 8800 GTX scores out almost two weeks before the official launch.
Last week we heard the 8800 GTX should score close to 11,500 on Intel's new quad core chip. We were not far off. Just for competition we tested the 7950 GX2 on the 2.6GHz clocked Core 2 Duo and scored 8200. Victor scored 11,300 on an overclocked Core 2 Duo and an amazing 13,717 on the overclocked Kentsfield, Core 2 Quad Q6600. It is more than 50 per cent faster than the GX2 on a non-overclocked CPU.
The only problem is that Victor actually overclocks the CPU by as much as 1000MHz so we are comparing the apples and oranges. Still it at least gives you the implication of the power of Geforce 8800 GTX. The scores are
