Exploding Dell Laptop shuts Yahoo
Weapons of desk destruction

YAHOO'S Santa Clara office were evacuated after a Dell computer caught fire on a worker's desk.

Hundreds of workers were sent scuttling from the building after smoke alarms went off.

Silicon Valley's Valleywag magazine chatted to employees who were close to the Dell on the eighth floor when it erupted in a cloud of smoke.

Cameron Marlow told them that the office was full of smoke and everyone calmly got up as if it were a fire drill.

Apparently most employees were surprised that a Dell was even in the building in the first place. Most Yahoo workers use HPs and Macs.

Apparently the firemen left the scorched Dell outside and it was rapidly photographed. It looks like the Sony batteries went up. More here.
