I'm shopping too. Maybe a Lian-Li ATX box and ASUS A7V333 board. I found this link interesting for guys like me who have always used off the shelf pc's.

Well guess I'll go with the 2400+ just becuase it has the new state-of-the-art 0.13 micron technology, the processor core previously code named ?Thoroughbred.?

It's only $19 more than the 2100+. You think I should?

My cousin has the 1900+ and its damn sweet.

How fast is the 2400+? Have not seen speed or anything.

Thanks,
Will

I agree with Harry. 2100 for around $115. (Check pricewatch) The faster CPU just isn't worth the cost vs performance in scale. 2200 is nearly $50 more and you only get about 5% gain in performance IF that! The chart above clearly shows only a 10% gain between 2000 and 2400 AMD's.

You could also try the Abit KX7-333 or the KX7-333r. The R stands for teh RAID. I'm running the KX7-333 with the 2100+ on Win2k and 512 megs of DDR. Very fast and very stable!! h34r:" class="inlineimg" />

the 166MHz FSB version of the Athlon XP is coming out in a few months (i think), maybe it's best to wait for that. Or better yet, wait till next year.... by then you could get a ClawHammer :P

Athlon XP 2200+ and above is the best choice as of now, it has the newer codename b/c of its smaller .13 core.

For Mobos, you can't go wrong with ASUS or GIGABYTE.
