SOFTWARE giant Microsoft is planning to launch a brand new security service in June which will make it a player in the fairly cut-throat anti-virus market.
The service, called Windows OneCare Live, will be a subscription-based and self-updating service. The service will be flogged through retailers for an annual fee of $US49.95 for up to three computers.
In other words Vole does not appear to be looking at installing the service in the more lucrative corporate market.
Microsoft thinks that it will be one of the few companies that could offer an all-in-one service that included anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware software along with backup and computer performance maintenance tools.
We just hope it updates its service a little faster than it does critical security patches. More
