THE VOLE OF all Voles has agreed to allow a discount dealer to flog second hand volume licences, and start a new industry in used software licences.
Disclic is selling second hand software licences from insolvent or downsizing companies to other businesses and has managed to get the Vole to agree to its cunning plan.
According to Disclic, it will mean that companies which didn't see software licences as an asset, will be able to sell them if they require.
The deal is possible thanks to a loophole in British insolvency laws and a clause within many Microsoft licences that permits disused or unwanted volume licences to be transferred.
Disclic is selling the licenses at a discount of around 20 to 50 per cent below the prices of any other authorised Microsoft reseller.
Resellers are furious that Vole seems to have hung them out to dry. Most fear that the move could take away revenue from the channel, although some are interested in bidding for the licences of insolvent businesses and creating a new sales channel. More at
