THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH claims that chip maker Intel is incandescent with rage at a deal between Formula One governing body, the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and its semiconductor rival Advanced Micro Devices.
And, said the newspaper, that means it's delaying putting its name to a $50 million sponsorship deal with the McLaren Formula One team.
Last week, HP announced that it was terminating a deal with
BMW Williams, and the
Telegraph speculated that Intel had been talking to other F1 teams.
But, said the paper,
here, AMD and the FIA incensed Intel by appointing AMD VP Henri Richard as a technical advisor to the governing body.
AMD continues to sponsor Ferrari, but
earlier this year cancelled an FIA press conference which was to reveal the results of an
AMD sponsored survey.
