I have a 250 GB Maxtor SATA and a 200 GB SATA Seagate, plus 2 IDE HD's in this machine. The Maxtor runs at 50C all the time, even at rest, while the Seagate and the other two run at 39-40. I get nervous when temps run high.
I've taken the Maxtor out and plug it back in when I need extra strorage. I've acquired a really nicely built Acomdata external USB 250 IDE drive with an exhaust fan to solve this stupid problem! The 4 hd's when all installed in the Antec case sit horizontally with equal spacing and ventillation.
Never saw any problems of coexistence except with DOS based utilities.
