Can't install some proggies; you are NOT the Administrator??

Everytime I try to install certain programs, I get a message saying I am not the Administrator and don't have permission to install this app;
Well, I AM the admin on this pc, and have the only account on here, so this is too weird..
Here is the error message I see when trying...

Try this:

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users

Find your username and double-click it.
Click on the member of tab and then if it doesn't say "Administrators" go to <Add> then type "Administrators and <OK>

Then try installing the app again. The changes should be instant and no restart should be required.

EDIT: Actually if you aren't a member of the admin group you won't be able to add yourself as one. If you restart in safe mode you should be able to log in as either your own account or one called "Administrator", created by windows when you ran setup. Log on as that then complete the steps above and restart.

Thanks Robin, but I already tried that, and I DO show up as an Administrator...

Remember that Administrator doesn't always have rights to directories, etc.. you can set folders and items to NOT get their parental designation.

Click on folder, or item(s) that you want installed...
make sure that the security allows YOUR user to install into all directories!

I've had that happen.. the Admin group was setup, but not my individual user.
My solution = turned off all user exceptions and all "EVERYONE" rights to all folders. Yes, security(off)...

I think you can just right-click a folder from Windows Explorer and go to the security tab to check/change permissions

I wish it was that easy Robin, but it isn't...in XPSP2, when you right click on the "C" drive, there is Sharing and security, but no place to change or check permissions, at least none that I can see...
