We treated my sweetheart for gout in the traditional way and then found out it was a fracture of the crown of her talus. Took us 5 months to get a proper diagnosis. So much for socialised medicine in Canada!

I've never had this

Didn't know it was caused by beer and meat
Sounds painful

I thought it was caused by low temperatures and insuficient insulation, maybe I'm thinking of something else

high uric acid is the main trigger. My wife had high uric acid and the angry joint pain associated with this disease often attributed to high living, rich food, booz, etc. Turned out the doctor was fooled.

Ok guys, I know BetaONE is not a medical site but we do share what is happening in our life with our ifamily. Therefore, as I continue to find out more about my problem and what helps me, I will continue to pass it on to you through this thread so you might not have to feel the pain I have/do feel.

So far I have not stopped reading about my problem and for the most part all the reading I've done on this topic is consistant with each other. Although, I just today have found an article that is very complete with the different information I have currently found and it is very well written.

I'll share the link with you below if you care to read it.

Recently shaved my head down to a #1 to allow the UV sunlight reach my scalp, thus helping me control my psoriasis condition. As mentioned previously in the thread, my 7 + year psoriasis condition has contributed to psoriatic arthritis and through this I received the gout. I have cleared up the psoriasis but I can't say what any one thing it is that I've done (or continue to do) that keeps it away. I'm happy I found a combo of things that work WITHOUT needing a script from a doctor. I will therefore tell you what I have done:

1. Shaved head to a #1, could pass for a military person now.
2. Use a special mega vitamin shampoo, Bed Head by TIGI.
3. Use Dove intensive nourishing lotion with vitamin A, E & B5 in it on scalp daily.
4. Vitamins daily: Wheaties vitamin pack + flaxseed oil, garlic, celery seed & 200 IU of E.
5. Switched from regular Bud to BudLight and also cut back my intake.
6. Cut my meat intake back in half.
7. I eat every two hours now, small helpings & drink around 8 glasses of water daily.
8. Only drink pop once a week due to the caffeine.

I think that's it. I'm feeling great and now I have even lost weight without trying. I only hope this information can help someone out there before it happens to them.
