Ipod or Ipod Mini?
Thinking on buying one of these. Any recomendations? Should I try something else?
Thoughts appreciated.

I just bought the 4 gb mini Dave. I love it. Since I'm the type to use it in a "recycling" manner as opposed to storing tons of music, there's more than enough room (up to 1500 songs). The sound quality is incredible (be prepared to buy some decent phones as the stock buds are crap), and the battery life is the best to date (18 hours).

buy a Iriver H10, save a ton of $$$, get a color display, and laugh at everyone who overpaid for an IPOD!!!

I acutally won an ipod mini playing poker (go me!) and I am loving it!! 4gb is enough for me to hold all my favroite albums, its tiny, and the battery life is incredible If you have a TON of music that you want to put on, I would go with the regular ipod for the extra disk space, but if you just have like 20 albums or so you want to listen to, the mini is a good choice

An updated 2 cents:
Just returned my mini for a 30g ipod photo. Reason being is when I started loading it with full albums I ate up alot of space. When it was just individual songs it was fine. I underjudged my musical appetite I guess.
Love the new one btw!

Thanks for all the opinions.
Now have to choose between the 40gig and the 30gig photo.

If I were you Dave, I'd consider the discontinued 40 g @ the macmall for $374 (or is it $347). It comes with lotta extras the others don't. See what I mean here:

Are the batteries replaceable yet or are Ipods still like LightBulbs & Hard Drives with a finite life span?
For what it is worth I had and iRiver and Rio both flash memory and small under 256mb , never really upgraded them, now I use my Audiovox PPC 4100 I have 2GB of SD cards and I can rip TV shows like '24' or old 'X-files' that I never saw and watch them when I waiting somewhere, WMplayer for PPC2k3 V9 is pretty good, I can run it with an adapter through my cars sound system, I always thought that music sound best in cars, well even though my car can't decode 5.1 the stero, clarity and quality is great, it is a nice alternative when the express way turns into a parking lot for an hour and you don't move.
