Uptime for Windows 2000/XP
A new tool, Uptime.exe, is available for displaying system availability. Uptime.exe can be used to display the current uptime of the local or remote system. Optionally, it can also scan the Event log for key system events such as system restart or computers that are not responding (hanging). Where possible, it also calculates system availability. It is primarily intended for Windows NT Server 4.0 Service Pack 4 or later, though it operates in limited fashion on earlier versions.

You could also just type in without the quotes "systeminfo" at a command prompt and it will tell you all sorts of things about your system, including Uptime.
System Up Time: 0 Days, 0 Hours, 30 Minutes, 34 Seconds
It even tells you when you installed the OS. Pretty cool info I'd say, since I cannot remember for the life of me when I last installed an OS... (Now I know - Feb 2004)...

Isn't that why uptime.exe from Microsoft doesn't work?
C:\Users\McoreD\Information Technology>uptime
\\BETAONE-7B32227 has been up for: 1 day(s), 12 hour(s), 36 minute(s), 46 second(s)
